Mental Nerve: You most likely have an abscess and swelling in the area of the mental nerve (exits the lower jaw near the roots of the premolars) which supplies sensation to a portion of the lower jaw. The numbness is due to the compression of the nerve endings from the abscess. Dental evaluation and treatment would be highly recommended.

Pressure and Acid: The pressure of the infection as well as the acidity (from the infection) in the vicinity of certain nerves has caused this problem. Failure to treat can cause permanent damage. Please call a dentist in your area for immediate care.

Numbness: May be neurologic rather than associated with previous infection. See both your Dentist and your Physician for initial screening examinations.
