How can you treat an abscess in my gum / infection?

Tooth infection: An abscess is a bacterial infection. When associated with a tooth, it means that bacteria have invaded the nerve inside the tooth or maybe have invaded the bone and gum surrounding the tooth...Or maybe both. A course of antibiotics and a procedure may be needed. A dentist can determine which it is and recommend treatment.

See your dentist: Immediately to determine the cause of the infection and render appropriate treatment. There are different causes and therefore different treatments. Could be from gum disease or an infected tooth, etc.

See a dentist ASAP: for gum abscess drainage. Any other treatment is a temporary relief. A gum infection won't go away without treatment and the infection may spread to your jaw, cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your head and neck. See your dentist ASAP.
