Pneumovax 23 is typically given for healthy adults age 65 years and older and younger patients with some disease conditions. Several years ago both Pneumovax 23 as well as Prevnar 13 were recommended, but now Prevnar 13 is no longer recommended for routine vaccination in healthy people age 65 and older. If Pneumovax 23 is given before age 65, then one more dose is given five or more years later.

Make sure her records are transferred timely to the new PCP. The type of pneumonia vaccine she got will be captured in her records and available to the new doc to see.
