70 year old female was given pneumonia vaccine pnemovax23 at age 65. was told to give another dose of the same now that she is 70 plus. is it true that you need pneumonia vaccine every 5 years?

Best to check with CDC and NJ health department guidelines. There is an excellent discussion of the evidence at uptodate.com but will cost $20 for one week subscription. Read the sections called the Basics and then Beyond the Basics. They have nice tables and low charts to assess the risks(few) and benerits (many) and then she and her Dr can decide.
