Husband's metabolic comprehensive shows alt/sgpt as 39 a year back. the lab shows up to 44 as normal. is this normal or should we repeat test now this year? he is an asian male 36 years old. our pcp did not mention anything about this. please advise

Generally no worries: It's in 'normal' range, but if other risk factors exist (obesity, alcohol use, poorly controlled diabetes, esposure to hepatotoxic drugs or family history of liver disease, etc) it may be worth repeating now 1 year later.

Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your husband's lab results are not a cause for concern. Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.
