A member asked:

I have a lipase level of 44 u/l. im 18, female & weigh 250lbs at 5'10. my doctor said that although it is low, it isnt a concern unless it drops below 10 u/l. its been slowly dropping for the past 2 years. should i fight to get my pancreas checked?

I’m going to agree with your doctor on this one. You didn’t really mention symptoms. I am assuming there is a reason your doctor is checking your lipase levels, but in general I would say that with a lipase level like this (also lab dependent) I would not dig into this further without corresponding symptoms.

No. A "low" lipase in not of concern. Your weight is. It is imperative that you lose weight through exercise and reduction in intake of food.
