Your doctor is correct: you do not have HIV. CD4 testing is never appropriate to attempt to diagnose HIV. It should only be done in people known to have it. Plenty of other minor viral infections and other medical conditions can temporarily depress CD4. That result means nothing in regard to your HIV status. There are no medical conditions (HCV or any other) that interfere with HIV test accuracy.
