The radiation is of a diagnostic dosage, not as if you were exposed to a nuclear power plant leak. Today's digital sensors are very sensitive so not much radiation is needed to obtain a proper image. Radiation is not something that stays n your system, but actually passes thru you to the sensor or film.

A diagnostic chest x-ray is highly unlikely to have any adverse effect on your health. The benefit of a needed x-ray far exceeds any theoretical risk. Wish you good health!
