Oral contraceptives work by changing your baseline hormone level. Since you are in the first month, this is the most critical time. Taking the Sprintec daily will allow you to achieve the new hormone level that will keep you from getting pregnant. Ella also contains hormones, but in one high dose delivery system. It will prevent you from getting pregnant this time, but you still need the sprintec.
