Should be effective: Ella (ulipristal acetate) contains ulipristal, a drug which blocks the effects of hormones needed for pregnancy. It is more effective than Plan B/progesterone only emergency contraception. When taken within 24 hours, as you report, it is about 95% effective at preventing pregnancy. I could not find information suggesting it is measureably less effective in the obese patient. Consider reliable contraception methods/IUD
