My dad spent 5 days in the hospital, he went in for a transfusion, they gave him steroids, his blood sugar dropped and they gave insulin he's not diabetic. he came home he's bloated and his feet are swollen and dark. how do we handle this?

This can occur in hospitalized patients who were newly & temporarily treated with insulin during their treatment for other illnesses. Other causes of his fluid retention are from infusions of blood, other iv solutions&steroids during his stay. If no cardiac or kidney disease his edema should clear by avoiding salt& limiting fluid intake to a quart&half per day. MD may prescribe diuretic also.
