A healthy diet including sources of lean protein such fish and chicken is usually sufficient. If you add one standard protein shake per day from a major brand, that would be fine, but may not be necessary.

You should readily take in enough protein in your diet. While whey protein could be a source of protein, ordinary milk, cheese, fish, meat, chicken are perfectly good sources of protein. In the United States, protein supplementation is virtually never needed.
