A member asked:

Recent breast exam (mammo and us) revealed a cluster of microcysts with 3 associated punctate calcifications with no internal vascularity. my radiologist said she was not concerned but suggested follow up exam at 6 months. does this seem reasonable?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Clusters of "punctate calcifications" in a "45 yo female" should be biopsied to ensure against possible malignancy. Early treatment of breast cancer can mediate this disease the earlier one proceeds with treatment.
