Over the last 3 months, i have been trying to lose weight by eating significantly better (calorie tracking) and by getting 5 days of moderate intensity workout. is there anything that i should be doing differently? how much time does it take?

You have the right approach. Just note that once you lose some weight, you may need to reduce your caloric intake further to keep losing weight. Also be on the watch for your eating habits, as most people regain the weight they lose, unless they make permanent changes to their life style. Wish you good health!
