A member asked:

My dad has ckd stage 4 15 gfr, high blood pressure and diabetes if he maintains his blood pressure level at 130 or below and diabetes level at 7 or lower, does he have a good chance of surviving....he was diagnosed with ckd 3 years ago and is 75?

Would anticipate that careful and close medical care and followup should provide excellent blood pressure and diabetes management. Kidney issues could be handled by dialysis. Think that survival over several years is a very reasonable projection.

Keeping under control both high blood pressure and diabetes would be best in order to preserve kidney function. Establishing with a nephrologist will also help in making decisions and timing dialysis in case needed.
