Does the pain occur spontaneously or after an accident? How long have you had this pain? What part of the arm, upper arm, elbow, forearm? Besides the throbbing pain, any associated symptoms or signs such as swelling, redness, limited range of Joint motion due to pain, etc. We need these info to give you the correct advice. Use Ibuprofen 200 mg x 2 (OTC) is more effective, not more than 3 days.

Many other reasons for arm pains include bursitis, tendinitis, pinched nerves, arthropathies, etc. Best to sort out with a direct exam by your primary physician, and if necessary, second opinion from physiatrist or rheumatologist. Might try some physical or hand therapy.
