A member asked:

My lipase was elevated and i was told i likely have mild pancreatitis and sent home. when should i have my lipase retested?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Elevation of Lipase my indicate pancreatitis but caution is advised in drawing any certain conclusions unless you have had the blood test repeated at least once(within one month of the last time it was tested) and the elevation of Lipase persists. It can easily be a false positive test result especially if you have no abdominal symptoms(?pain, nausea loss of appetite ). Do you consume Alcohol??
