A member asked:

I had an mri without contrast for a 4 day old head injury due to persisting concussion symptoms. my question and concern is if an mri without a contrast given will still be effective in showing any bleeding within the brain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If an MRI lacking contrast failed to show obvious bleeding, then you thankfully did not damage intracranial vasculature during your head injury. Unless you worsen with accelerating deterioration, the need for further imaging does not seem apparent.
