The standard treatment is Rest (for as long as it is hurting), Ice (20 minutes 2-3 times per day), Compression (wrap an Ace bandage on the area for support), and Elevation (keep the area elevated on some pillows so that fluid does not accumulate in the area and lead to swelling.
