I have multiple swollen lymph nodes on both sides of my neck up to 2.5cm. i have had several ultrasounds done and now i'm being reffed to a hematologist, this has me really nervous. am i being referred because they think it's cancer or something?

I am not sure why you were referred to a hematologist first. You need to have a lymph node biopsy so a surgeon should see your first unless you had an abnormal blood test which suggests a bone marrow biopsy for a definite diagnosis rather than a lymph node biopsy.
