A 2 yr old is expected to speak about 50 or more words , including two word questions like 'go bye' .and phrases like 'want milk ', follow simple instructions and point to pictures when they are named. CDC has a helpful milestone tracker that lets parents check their child's development . It might be advisable to have your pediatrician do a developmental screening for your child.

Tough question to answer at this age. Many 2 year olds don't have a lot of speech, and a year later you can't shut them up! If your child has risk factors for speech/hearing delays (for instance lots of ear infections as infant...), then I would be more concerned. If child seems to be understanding what you say, for instance brings you a ball if you say "give mommy ball", would be reassured.

A speech and hearing evaluation may be indicated. Inquire about the Development assessment from your physician. Read stories, reinforce vocabulary, select educational toys and talk to your child during shopping and other errands. Note response to noise levels
