There are two: Parts of the central nervous system. The spinal cord AND the brain. If you have a lesion in the brain due to MS, or if the problem in the spine is higher up than the area imaged that could be missed. Did you have reflexes? That's very important. Peripheral neuropathies like Guillan Barre can cause weakness and numbness in legs too. The major difference is presence or absence of reflexes. CURMDASAP

See neurologist: if MRI is normal, there may be no problem with the spine. That is reassuring, if you still have symptoms, proper diagnosis is needed. For proper diagnosis, please see your physician and may need a referral to neurologist
