While there seems to be an infinitesimally small increase in stroke risk associated with Covid-19 vaccine, there is a much larger increase in morbidity associated with CV-19 infection in the unvaccinated. In other words, the risk of death is greater in the unvaccinated than from vaccination. Your Mom should talk to her GP, the health care provider that kn owe her best.

This is so hard. Your mother does get to choose, and if she feels safer being at risk for COVID infection (which she can address with social distancing, N95 masking and generally avoiding contact with others) than risking stroke or brain hemorrhage, she may choose. With the current variant, risk of infection is very high. The risk of stroke following vaccine is highest in Johnson and Johnson.

Thrombotic and hemorrhagic stroke have both been seen with COVID-19 and 1/3 of infected patients get cognitive or emotional problems within 6 months. Vaccine associated such issues are minuscule indeed. A choice with far better vaccine outcomes
