85 year old male who has chronic cough anyways but lung is clear as doctor checked. wants to eat icecream sometimes in summer. is it safe to give ice creamonce in a while or would be risk to get pneumonia how to avoid pneumonia anyways for this age?

I would let this man enjoy ice cream. Precautions against his developing pneumonia include preventive measures against falling and ending up with prolonged immobilization, preventing aspiration and exposure to extremes in weather. As for his chronic cough, does he have chronic bronchitis,take ACE inhibitor medications like lisinopril?Has he had a chest CT scan?

Ice cream is fine. A pneumococcal vaccine would be advisable, however.
