Thyroglobulin is produced within the thyroid gland and is a storage reservoir for thyroid hormones. It is largely measured to assess treatment results& follow-up of thyroid cancer patients who have had total thyroidectomy in order to detect recurrence. We mostly order antithyroglobulin antibodies to detect autoimmune disease but most physicians probably don't order thyroglobulin levels in noncance
