A member asked:

Is it legal for a doctor to directly sell a medication to you (instead of sending you to a pharmacy with the prescription)?

Yes but ethical?: It is legal but there are ethical issues. Doctors often do it to make more money. It can be more convenient (avoid a trip to the pharmacy), but it can encourage overprescribing too. If your doc is doing a lot of it, and if it involves a lot of expensive medications, while avoiding the generics, it may suggest a problem.
