Primary amyloidosis (AL amyloidosis) has much poorer prognosis, especially with cardiac involvement. One study reported a median survival of less than one year in a group of patients with AL amyloidosis. All patients I took care died in the first year. Prognosis is very poor with kidney amyloidosis which requires dialysis; of course better if you have secondary type + kidney transplant. Sorry!
