Will a choledocholithiasis patient have a stent placed in his cbd during ercp? the patient has got his stone removed completely. is it necessary that a stent is always placed that needs to be removed in a few months? his ercp was done 8 years ago..?

If it's a solitary CBD stone or not very large, a stent shouldn't be necessary as the success rate of complete removal is almost 100%. As you state, a stent should be removed by 3 months to avoid stent obstruction.
