You are correct. NOT always placed - only when there is CBD blockage. Needs to be removed in a few weeks/months, depending. Have him see another doc

My brother had a bile duct obstruction caused by a gallstone. So, he was treated with ERCP exactly 25 days later after his first symptoms (abdominal pain and mild jaundice). My question is, will Choledocholithiasis cause liver cirrhosis?

My cousin, 54, had ERCP to remove gallstones from his bile duct. After the removal of stone, occlusion cholangiogram stated that the CBD is now clear. Just want to know on his behalf, will this now put him at an increased risk of biliary stricture?
