Hello doctor, i take gabapentin once daily for rls , my question can i take it on alternative day instead of daily?? my symptoms are of mild intensity. since i will require medicine for years, i don't want to develop tolerance and side effects ?

Yes, you might very well have success with an every other day schedule, but not always. You just have to try it and see if it is productive and successful

It might be possible to take it alt days but unlikely to provide lasting benefit for 48 hrs. The medicine is designed to last ~8hrs and for this reason is usually scheduled 3 times a day. There is a time released version that does last 24hrs but not 48hrs. Seizure meds like gabapentin are designed for long term use and should continue to work for years.
