A member asked:

Even after the spinal cord is severed in the upper cervical region, the spinal cord performs many highly regulated functions. is that correct?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not correct, especially if a C-zero level is encountered. Below this level no respiratory function occurs, and full paralysis and numbness with urinary and bowel dysfunction occurs. However, no reason to assume cranial nerve function does not continue.
