A member asked:

When i burp the pressure hits my eardrum through my eustachian tube and causes pain. is there anything i can do to solve this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pain is triggered when the eardrum is stretched. That would occur if middle ear air is partially absorbed (creates a vacuum) with a closed Eustachian tube and a burp triggering entry through that tube in a rush. A slight yawning movement occasionally will straighten/open the Eustachian tube occasionally and equalize any pressure difference rendering the painful air movement less likely.
