A member asked:

My friend tested hiv negative at 6 months, 9 months and then tested positive 12 months. she told me her last exposure was 2 years ago. did the test fail her. did seroconversion take place after 2yrs or is she not telling the truth?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

She’s not telling the truth. Seroconversion usually 2-4 weeks after infection, infrequently 2-3 month. 2 years? Nah, just doesn’t happen
