A 23-year-old male asked:
Would remicade affect my negative hiv 4th gen combo test at 9 weeks after exposure? i heard it's immunosuppressive drug. i tested rna at 9.7 weeks. i'm so worried about seroconversion and even hiv-2(since p24 is not detectable in hiv2 infection).

HIV test: Contrary to common beliefs, there are NO drugs that aler the reliability of the 4th generation (antigen-antibody) HIV tests. If any effect at all, immunosuppressive drugs might make the test MORE likely to detect infection sooner than otherwise. But inflximab (Remicade) makes no difference at all. Your negative 9 week result is 100% conclusive for HIV2 as well as HIV1. Don't have any more tests.
