Would you consider oral diclofenac sodium to be as safe as something like meloxicam for arthritis to an otherwise healthy person?

In a study by Valat, Meloxicam and diclofenac were equivalent in relieving the acute pain associated with osteoarthritis of the lumbar spine. However, meloxicam was much better tolerated. Meloxicam has more COX2 properties making it safer.
