A member asked:

Oral) diclofenac sodium delayed release tablets, usp, 75mg twice daily, versus (oral) meloxicam 15mg once daily. which is stronger for l5s1 arthritis. which is safer. if diclo negegibly stronger, worth the increased liver impact?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

In a study by Valat, Meloxicam and diclofenac were equivalent in relieving the acute pain associated with osteoarthritis of the lumbar spine. However, meloxicam was much better tolerated. Meloxicam has more COX2 properties making it safer.
