A member asked:

How long would it take after getting off of a ppi after being on it for 7 months, for the stomach acid in my stomach to return to normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The half life is the term used to describe how long it takes for 1/2 to be out of your system. After 4 half lives a drug is functionally gone. Most PPI's have half lives listed in hours so they are functionally gone within a day or so. Once gone the suppression of acid production returns to baseline levels. For most this would be a day or two.
