I am a 51 year old woman. i have gerd, have used omeprazole daily for over 20 years. the medication no longer seems to be helping as i have acid reflux constantly. i also have ibs. is the ppi causing low stomach acid making me worse? should i stop?

GI doc: 20 years os too long to live with GERD. You may also have damage to lower esophagus that needs to be evaluated. It would be prudent to see a GI specialist for a comprehensive evaluation and treatment.
