GERD: Gerd is often a long-term problem, and patients often need medicine indefinitely. It may help to avoid particular foods you notice make your symptoms worse, Particularly tomatoes, onions, orange juice, chocolate, and citrus fruits. Tobacco and alcohol also make the problem worse. Surgery can sometimes be used, but is usually a last resort. See your doctor if the above do not help. Good luck.
