PPI: If you are on ppi for a long time and considering stopping, you can. There is no guidelines on the proper way of stopping this medication. In order to prevent shock to the system after so many years on this medication, i suggest my patients to taper it. If you are taking twice/day, then decrease to once a day x 1 week, then every other day x 1 week, then every 3 days x 1 week, then stop.
