A member asked:

On my ultrasound it showed that i have a hypoechoic mass like region measuring 2.78 x 1.8 x 2.0 cm with low level echoes with a myometrial cyst in the posterior and superior region. with a tubular structure with low level echoes as well. what is thi?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The elements of the ultrasound report suggest the possibility of a type of endometriosis called "adenomyosis", which involves invasion of endometrial tissue into the myometrium (muscle layers) of the uterus. This causes blood deposits in the uterus, which create the "hypoechoic mass" called "myometrial cysts". Ask your gyn about oral bcp's , a preferred treatment for adenomyosis.
