Can be either: A 1 cm. or less than 1/2 inch is rarely identified as a malignant lesion. On US too difficult to define the origin of the hypoechoic signal. One questions the symptoms that might have let the lesion be defined and where is this nodule . Is it superficial, in the abdominal cavity, palpated on neck exam or where else was the lesion defined. If there is suspicion of malignancy then bx.
