An er doctor gave me a metropolol injection for heart rate when i came in complaining of chest pains, all my test came out good. he gave me a prescription. if i decide not to use medication after one time use i will not experience any heart issues?

Follow up as outpatient with a cardiologist or primary care doc is recommended along with taking meds as prescribed. Chances are that the condition will come back if no changes made and recommendations followed.

It is imperative to know what the actual heart rhythm was at the time of the rapid rate. If it was simple sinus tachycardia secondary to anxiety reaction you may not have to take further med.
