A member asked:

3 yrs ago upper endoscopy. everything normal. f/u scope is normal but now scope shows mid esophageal gastric heterotopia. mid esophageal pathology says squamous mucosa, no gastric type issue identified. why the contradiction? is inlet patch concern?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If appearance of esophageal mucosa was different, it was noted. That’s why, biopsy was taken. You got the information that it is normal mucosa. This is great. This was the purpose of endoscopic to recognize any abnormalities in the esophagus at early stage. I hope it helps.
