A member asked:

3 yrs ago upper endoscopy was normal. just had a follow up scope which says i have a mid esophageal inlet patch. would this have been missed 3 yrs ago or would it be new? should i be concerned long term? pathology stated mid esophageal normal???

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The "patch" likely developed since the last endoscopy. For the long term, you need to address the underlying cause, e.g., if you have gastric reflux, that needs to be treated and your doctor should advise you. if you are overweight, losing weight would be helpful. Wish you good health!
