A member asked:

Endoscopy shows mid esophageal gastric heterotopia and inlet patch. pathology states squamous mucosa with no abnormality & no gastric type issue identified. scope 3 yrs prop had no mention of inlet patch or heterotopia. what is this? any concerns?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pathology only reports what is seen in the tissue that was submitted. If the "gastric heterotopia" seen on endoscopy was not biopsied, the pathologist would not see it. It would be prudent to talk to the doctor who performed the endoscopy. Wish you good health!
