A member asked:

Is there an 800 crisis number available for people with panic/anxiety disorders where you can speak to a counselor during an attack?

800-273-TALK: There are a number of national hotlines- most have a focus on suicide prevention, but many provide other resources. A good starting place is 1-800-273-talk if you're in crisis. Most local telephone directories have local #s in the very front, as well. People with debilitating anxiety/panic attacks should seek medical help; good treatments are available.

1800LifeNet: One might also try the above number. It connects people with counsellors who can help with many mental health issues.

Panic: The best thing to do for panic attacks, believe it or not, is nothing. Do not respond and wait for it to pass. Calling someone or a hot line is responding, like trying to be "talked down" from the anxiety. This will likely only perpetuate the anxiety. Not reacting or responding will allow your body to desensitize itself, which is what you want.
