A member asked:

How come we never had any successful mrna vaccines developed before and now in less than a year they got it to work? trying to convince my parents to take the covid vaccine but this is their main argument?

1. There are non-mRNA vaccines that your parents could take. 2. The underlying research has been going on for decades. A candidate for such a vaccine came along only a year ago. 3. We have had electricity for over hundred years, why did electric cars come about only now? Wish you and your parents good health!

mRNA is not new technology. These are the first approved. The mRNA vaccine will not affect your DNA. It is most likely safer than other types of vaccine. It is also extremely effective. All of my physician and epidemiology colleagues have gotten and urged others to get the vaccine. None of us have had any problems and we have all lost friends, family, and patients to the pandemic.
