A member asked:

A ct scan showed a 12mm lung nodule. in the past 6 months i've had shortness of breath and a dry cough. should i have the nodule removed?

Not necessarily, but you do need a thorough, thoughtful work-up to determine what the nodule is caused by. If a long term LA resident, coccidiodomycosis (“Valley Fever”) is statistically most likely, but many other possibilities, most benign, some not so much. Need evaluation by a good Pulmonologist.

So far there are missing pieces in the puzzle and further workup may be needed. An infection specifically will have to be ruled out and treated in case diagnosed. The nodule may need to be biopsied for a proper diagnosis.
