I recently had a chest x-ray in the er during an emergency appendectomy. the report says enlarged main pulmonary artery may suggest pulmonary hypertension. heart size normal. im terrified?

Follow up will be needed with your primary care physician. Such incidental findings need to be confirmed, specifically when using a suboptimal test for that condition. A confirmatory test, such as a 2d-echo heart may be ordered. Based on findings further work up may or may not be needed.
